GED Prep Software Gives Clients New Tool
UIH Family Partners now offers men in its programs free access to GED preparation software that is considered by many to be the gold standard in the field. McGraw Hill Contemporary’s MHC Interactive Pre-GED is available to the men in the agency’s on-site computer lab, housed at 4 North Broad Street, Suite 2R. This enhancement to UIH Family Partners’ programs complements the organization’s mission to build effective families through innovative programs for parents and children. As Executive Director Karen Andrade-Mims noted, “Making this highly interactive software accessible to our participants – and opening new doors of discovery and opportunity to them – is a natural evolution of the services we provide.”
UIH Family Partners Welcomes Two New Board Members
Dr. Browne comes to the agency with extensive experience in the field of education as well as in the public sector. Since August 2010, she has been Visiting Assistant Professor in Human Sexuality at Widener University, Chester, PA, the institution from which she earned her Ed.D. Prior to accepting this position, Dr. Browne’s most recent employment was with the New Jersey Department of Children and Families, Division of Prevention and Community Partnerships, serving as Administrator of Family Support Services. In this capacity, Dr. Browne administered and managed case management projects; coordinated and managed the statewide network of Family Success Centers; and provided training and technical assistance to programs providing services to youth at-risk of gang involvement and/or criminal behavior. In addition to serving UIH Family Partners as Co-Chair of the Board’s Strategic Planning Committee, Dr. Browne is Vice President of the NJ Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) (2008-present). She has been actively involved with Literacy Volunteers of America as a Board Member, Tutor Trainer and Tutor since 1997.
Mr. Ponzio is a co-founder and Senior Partner of Longview Financial Advisors, LLC, a Registered Investments Advisory Firm with offices in Mt. Laurel, NJ and Wilmington, DE. The company specializes in personal asset management for individuals, families and institutions as well as retirement plans. Prior to establishing Longview Financial Advisors six years ago, Mr. Ponzio was Senior Vice President of Retirement Services at Commerce Capital Markets; a District Manager at VALIC; and an advisor at Donald Smith & Associates. Committed to public service, Mr. Ponzio sits on the Executive Board of United Way of Camden County and is Chair of that organization’s Audit, Ethics and Compliance Committee. He also serves as President of the Mt. Laurel Rotary Club. The father of two girls and a graduate of Rutgers University – New Brunswick, Mr. Ponzio is a past president and co-founder of the Hamilton Education Foundation. On the UIH Family Partners Board, he co-chairs the Finance Committee.
